Memorial Day Weekend

A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend. Where to start .

Everyone seemed to have a great weekend. It was such a mix of folks. Some made new friends, some reconnected with people they had met here last year. We received many positive comments on the changes and improvements. By the end of the weekend   I had received a Blue Ribbon award, hugs & kisses from departing kids and adults, two pictures drawn for me, and some future reservations, including for our upcoming Blue Grass night.

Most campers went fishing plus other people came in all weekend long so David was also busy at the Trout Farm. There was one little guy who caught his very first fish. When he came back to the campground, he was determined to show me every picture his dad had taken of the Big Catch.  After they followed David’s recipe for cooking it for dinner, this little guy then announced to me that “Miss Priscilla, I don’t like fish. But I DO LIKE Trout!”.

With a full campground, my days were very long and it was non-stop work. Fun work. No pantyhose, no make-up (which might have actually scared some) and no high heels! The pools were in constant use. Warm temp’s and lots of sunshine. The play area was full all day long, both as families played games and kids who had just met played together.

Quite a few hardy campers took the trail down to Mitchell Creek. Everyone said that my warning was accurate.”1/2 mile down, 20 miles up.”  It was great to be so busy and it was encouraging as well.  Jamie (David’s brother) was a huge help to both of us.  I am baking that man as many brownies as he wants!

So we all survived. And I have a few more stories to tell.  Stay tuned.
